Durham’s top doctor not issuing order to keep those in lockdown areas out of the region

Durham’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Kyle has no plans to issue a class order to keep those from Grey – Lockdown zones or still under the stay-at-home order from coming to the region.

The health department says they haven’t seen an increase in cases linked to travelling between regions and the province already recommends not travelling between colour-coded zones.

They also recognize areas like Toronto, Peel and York are still under stay-at-home orders and shouldn’t been leaving their homes for anything other than the essentials.

In an interview with Durham Radio News earlier this week, Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott said the decision would be up to Dr. Kyle.

In Hastings and Prince Edward counties those still under the stay-at-home order cannot book hotels or go to restaurants due to a class order issued by that public health unit’s top doctor.
