What's Going On Here? Oshawa's grey fire hydrants

Share:

While some residents may be wondering if the City of Oshawa has decided to go with a more neutral colour pallet for the fire hydrants across the city that are suddenly being painted grey, that is not the case.

JUST THE FACTS:

The grey paint currently on Oshawa fire hydrants is just part of regular maintenance to the hydrants that provide water in emergency situations.

City staff have confirmed that every few years, the Region of Durham sends crews around to each hydrant, cleaning them up and painting them with grey primer.

Crews will return at a later date to paint them the yellow that residents are accustomed to seeing.
