Main Street Bakehouse opens in Markham

It’s a real family affair at the newest Main Street Bakehouse and Eatery at 227 Main St. in Markham, directly across from the GO station.

Nora Belo, Brianna Belo and Christina Belo-Kourtsidis are sisters-in-law and co-owners of this venue, as well as their original bakehouse at 6236 Main St. in Stouffville.

This restaurant’s official grand opening was Aug. 23.

“We’ve received a lot of support from the plaza and the neighbourhood,” said Christina.

The Markham venue seats about 40 and was designed by several members of the family.

Their specialties include fresh baked scones, butter tarts, cinnamon buns, cookies, muffins and squares.

They open early mornings and serve full breakfasts. They also offer up deli sandwiches, burgers, salads and grilled offerings for lunch. Their coffee and espresso beans are locally roasted at Velvet Sunrise in Stouffville.
